She loves that the Lord has brought her to Cornerstone, and enjoys coming to work each day because of the wonderful, supportive, Christ loving staff. She sees her work as a teacher as an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to her students, and prays that each day they see the love of Christ pouring from her into them. Hello! My name is Patricia Baker and I am thrilled to become part of the faculty at Cornerstone. I have joyfully been teaching grades K, 1 and 2 for seventeen years. Originally I am from Plymouth, MA. While living in Lynchburg Virginia, I completed a Master degree in education from Liberty University. I have taught in DOD, public, private and classical education positions. I served four years in the USAF and my husband Steve twenty-two. During our time in the service we had the wonderful opportunity to live in many places within the US as well as Germany and Spain. Living in many locations with different cultures has given me the opportunity to connect with all kinds of people, cultures and environments. I love meeting people! Steve and I have two grown children, Lauren and Christian. My son is married to our beautiful daughter in-law, Myles Katherine. They all live in Portland. I want you to know that I love teaching and am so excited to join the staff at Cornerstone. I have found Cornerstone to be a special place that truly cares about each and every family. I look forward to the year ahead.

Mrs. Peebles has been teaching at Cornerstone since 2010. She enjoys helping students problem solve and find the best approach to understanding the problems before them. There's nothing like having a young student come up and say, "Do you remember when I couldn't read that at the beginning of the year? Well, now I can!" It's moments like that when she thanks God for choosing her to play a small, but important role in so many lives. She enjoys interacting with and learning alongside her students while watching them grow personally, academically, and most importantly, spiritually.

Reta is blessed to be part of the close-knit CCA community. She loves the relationships she makes with her students and their families, and is humbled to think she has a small part in shaping citizens of tomorrow. Even though that may sound cliche, she sees it as a weighty responsibility that she takes very seriously. Reta believes it is no accident that each child is placed in her classroom. She begins praying for her students and their families even before she knows their names. In her free time, you might run across Reta tromping down a dusty trail somewhere either by foot, or more preferably from the back of a horse.

Curiosity and the desire to explore took Ms. Owens to Australia as an exchange student during high school and to Madagascar as an adult where she taught in an international school as a short-term missionary. As a progressive, constructivist teacher, she believes students must learn to match their preferred style of learning with their intellectual strengths to construct their knowledge of God’s world. She enjoys the openness of students and their questions about life, how everything works and why the sky is blue. Ms. Owens is constantly amused by the antics of her three Coton de Tulear dogs (a breed native to Madagascar). She is looking forward to being in a Christian school this year. Ms. Owens is an adventurer at heart and invites the students in her classroom to be adventurers with her.

Miss Frey recently moved to Washington from Maryland and is enjoying learning about life here on the west coast. Before living in Maryland, she spent over 15 years on the island of Guam. Heather grew up there as a missionary kid and returned after college to teach in a Christian school. She has been in the field of education since 2000, loving every minute of it. She has taught multiple grades, and served as an administrator, and so far, her favorite has been teaching in the upper elementary grades. She's thankful to the Lord for letting her be a part of the ministry here at Cornerstone, and feels as if the staff, students, and parents are her new West Coast family.

My name is Rachel Neuberger and I am so excited to be joining the Cornerstone team this year! I am looking forward to partnering with parents and helping all students grow spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. On a more personal note, here is a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Clark County and have lived here my whole life! I grew up in a large family and have 3 sisters and a brother. We lived on a small family farm and had many animals. When I graduated from high school, I attended Clark Community College and then received my teaching degree and certificate from Washington State University. In 2015 I received my Masters of Education from Concordia University with a focus in reading. I have taught for ten years at various local schools/programs, including both private and public schools, with a variety of ages of students. My husband and I currently attend church in Battle Ground, Washington. I enjoy helping our church grow their programs and have been involved many different ways. I have especially enjoyed my role in our children’s programs and have done such things as lead dance time, teach chimes, and run the preschool program. This summer I especially enjoyed co-directing our annual VBS and taking on the role of a preschool director. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, reading, playing the piano, being outside, and, visiting with my family. We also enjoy working on our 1915 house and adding new homey touches. We have a German Shepard named Thor that we adopted this spring. We love having him around and like taking him for walks, and his personal favorite, playing ball. I am so excited to be joining the Cornerstone family and look forward to meeting you all soon!

She and her husband, David, have actively been involved with their boys through education, ministry, and mission work and witnessed God's hand as he wove together his unique purposes for their family. She has served as the Director of Children's Education at Living Water Church and taught in the Evergreen School District. As far back as Mrs. Jeans can remember, she has loved three things: Jesus, kids and horses. Because she loved horses so much, she began to draw them all the time. Eventually she grew in her creative gifting and began drawing all kinds of things. As she got older, she wanted to capture the amazing beauty of the people she saw around her. Now people are her favorite thing to draw! God used Mrs. Jean's love for art and horses and especially kids to draw her into ministry at summer camp where she served as program director for several years. Working with children and young adults was her calling so she eventually went to school to use horses as a ministry tool. Mrs. Jeans met and married her husband at this school, and they have a wonderful son. She is proud and excited to bring her gifts to teach at CCA!

Mrs. Mumley loves being a part of the Cornerstone family and is a CCA Alumna herself! Now as a technology mentor, Kaelynn has the opportunity to work with students K-8 as they explore the world with various forms of technology. She will also train teachers and help them to develop content-rich units that challenge students to become 21st century thinkers, ready to impact their communities and the world at large for Christ. When not at school she loves to go hiking and do outdoor activities with her husband and daughter. She's also a big soccer fan, and plays every chance she gets. In her free time she helps lead her church's high school youth group. She and her husband love to travel and have been to Kenya, Indonesia, Haiti, Mexico, Canada, France and Italy.
Mrs. Rose has been the welcoming face to the Cornerstone administrative offices for so long, we can't remember a time without her. Her patience and kindness seem endless as she greets visitors, and students with helpful information and possibly even a band-aid or ice pack when a kid has gotten a scrape on the playground. She is the administrative glue for the Elementary campus.

Though originally from Jordan, I got married in Vancouver in 2011. I enjoy making punny puns with my husband in English as well as Arabic. My favorite places to have traveled to were the beaches of Athens, Greece as well as the tiny quaint village of Kandern, Germany. The Lord used our 5 year mission as teachers to minister to third culture kids in Amman, Jordan. I also enjoyed being immersed in my international church by worshipping and serving with people of all nations. I have experience in the role of library support at my previous school. I am passionate about discovering both classic and modern children’s literature. One my favorite books is “The Phantom Tollbooth”. I am excited to continue supporting teachers and students of Cornerstone Academy.
