Mrs. Rose has been the welcoming face to the Cornerstone administrative offices for so long, we can't remember a time without her. Her patience and kindness seem endless as she greets visitors, and students with helpful information and possibly even a band-aid or ice pack when a kid has gotten a scrape on the playground. She is the administrative glue for the Elementary campus.

She loves that the Lord has brought her to Cornerstone, and enjoys coming to work each day because of the wonderful, supportive, Christ loving staff. Ms. Elizabeth is passionate about teaching, and she couldn't imagine doing anything else. She truly enjoys coming to the classroom every day, and creating an engaging and fun learning environment for students, and witnessing their academic and social growth, and their journey with Christ. She is thankful for the opportunity to work with the amazing and supportive Cornerstone staff and couldn't imagine working anywhere else. I am thrilled to be joining the Cornerstone team this year! I have had the privilege to teach 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade, and am excited to return to 2nd grade. While earning my degree from Corban University, I was given the chance to teach in both public and private education. During my time in Salem, I had the opportunity to serve as an AWANA co-director for several years, and participate in several leadership roles, including student government positions, as well as leading two mission trips to Czech Republic. While there, the team worked with elementary and middle school students developing their English skills. After countless games of Monopoly and Uno, many questions about my favorite TV show and color, as well as learning Czech PE games, I was able to see that working with children, whether inside or outside of the classroom, is truly what God has commanded me to do. On a more personal note, I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, until moving out to Brush Prairie, WA with my family in 2008. After moving to a very rural part of Washington, my love and desire for the outdoors grew exponentially. When I am not reading or teaching, you can find me hiking, kayaking, and sometimes even climbing any number of places around Washington.

My name is Rachel Neuberger and I am so excited to be joining the Cornerstone team this year! I am looking forward to partnering with parents and helping all students grow spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. On a more personal note, here is a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Clark County and have lived here my whole life! I grew up in a large family and have 3 sisters and a brother. We lived on a small family farm and had many animals. When I graduated from high school, I attended Clark Community College and then received my teaching degree and certificate from Washington State University. In 2015 I received my Masters of Education from Concordia University with a focus in reading. I have taught for ten years at various local schools/programs, including both private and public schools, with a variety of ages of students. My husband and I currently attend church in Battle Ground, Washington. I enjoy helping our church grow their programs and have been involved many different ways. I have especially enjoyed my role in our children’s programs and have done such things as lead dance time, teach chimes, and run the preschool program. This summer I especially enjoyed co-directing our annual VBS and taking on the role of a preschool director. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, reading, playing the piano, being outside, and, visiting with my family. We also enjoy working on our 1915 house and adding new homey touches. We have a German Shepard named Thor that we adopted this spring. We love having him around and like taking him for walks, and his personal favorite, playing ball. I am so excited to be joining the Cornerstone family and look forward to meeting you all soon!

My name is Jillian Cain and I am so grateful to join the Cornerstone Christian Academy community. I can’t wait to meet the students and families that I get to work with this year. Over the past 5 years, I have taught in both public and private schools in the northern Puget Sound area. Recently, my husband and I were led to move to Vancouver to embark on a new journey in life. We are excited to make this place our home and see what the Lord has planned for us here. When I am not teaching, I enjoy walking trails with my two large dogs, lifting weights, and spending time with my husband, friends, and family. As an educator, I strive to create a positive learning environment in which my students can grow in all areas and that cultivates a passion for learning and citizenship with everything centered around Christ.

Reta is blessed to be part of the close-knit Cornerstone community. She loves the relationships she makes with her students and their families, and is humbled to think she has a small part in shaping citizens of tomorrow. Even though that may sound cliche, she sees it as a weighty responsibility that she takes very seriously. Reta believes it is no accident that each child is placed in her classroom. She begins praying for her students and their families even before she knows their names. In her free time, you might run across Reta tromping down a dusty trail somewhere either by foot, or more preferably from the back of a horse.

Heather grew up there as a missionary kid and returned after college to teach in a Christian school. She has been in the field of education since 2000, loving every minute of it. She has taught multiple grades, and served as an administrator, and so far, her favorite has been teaching in the upper elementary grades. She's thankful to the Lord for letting her be a part of the ministry here at Cornerstone, and feels as if the staff, students, and parents are her new West Coast family.

Mrs. Peebles has been teaching at Cornerstone since 2010. She enjoys helping students problem solve and find the best approach to understanding the problems before them. There's nothing like having a young student come up and say, "Do you remember when I couldn't read that at the beginning of the year? Well, now I can!" It's moments like that when she thanks God for choosing her to play a small, but important role in so many lives. She enjoys interacting with and learning alongside her students while watching them grow personally, academically, and most importantly, spiritually.

Mr. Norris is passionate about developing and inspiring students to be their best selves, and to lead them towards Christ. He graduated from Multnomah University with his BA in Biblical/Theological Studies, and minored in Pastoral Ministries. He then received his Masters of Education at Azusa Pacific University. The foundation for his teaching philosophy is to focus on holistic student learning; in order for students to reach their full potential, they need to be inspired in all areas of their development. He is also passionate about faith integration: The truth of Scripture is not outside of other learning subjects, it’s woven throughout the truths of them. In his free time, Mr. Norris loves spending time with his wonderful wife, two young boys, and very large white dog. Going on bike rides, playing in their backyard pool, and Sabbathing on weekends are the highlights of time with his family. Before you ask, Mr. Norris is 6’5″, and no, he does not play basketball. However, he’s a huge Portland Timbers fan, and deeply loves the Pacific Northwest culture, especially coffee…lots and lots of coffee.

Mrs. Gaston teaches physical education and 8th grade Bible at Cornerstone Christian Academy, and she enjoys watching the students thrive, spiritually, mentally, and physically in any Physical Education and Bible Activity they participate in. She reports that the students are the highlight of her day, and really appreciates the privilege of working in a school where she can use the name of JESUS and share him with all the students she comes in contact with. Outside of work, she enjoys working out, and spending time with her husband and sons, and coaching volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Mrs. Gaston believes that God has truly blessed her to be a part of a school and community where the mission is to partner with parents to teach the truth and love of God's Word and to inspire students to pursue excellence spiritually, personally, academically, relationally, and physically, while equipping them for spending a lifetime of service to Jesus Christ.

As far back as Mrs. Jeans can remember, she has loved three things: Jesus, kids and horses. Because she loved horses so much, she began to draw them all the time. Eventually she grew in her creative gifting and began drawing all kinds of things. As she got older, she wanted to capture the amazing beauty of the people she saw around her. Now people are her favorite thing to draw! God used Mrs. Jean's love for art and horses and especially kids to draw her into ministry at summer camp where she served as program director for several years. Working with children and young adults was her calling so she eventually went to school to use horses as a ministry tool. Mrs. Jeans met and married her husband at this school, and they have a wonderful son. She is proud and excited to bring her gifts to teach at Cornerstone!
Blessed to have been born into a Christian home in Kansas, Mrs. Juarez was raised in Albuquerque, NM, and has lived in Nebraska and Texas. She has sung and played instruments since childhood.
